I recently went to Sunda Detroit and it lived up to the hype. Food was really, really good - everything we ordered was on point. You can tell there’s a lot of thought behind the menu, and the quality shows. Sushi was fresh, flavors were dialed in, and nothing felt like filler. What stood out the most though was the service. Our server Jordan was awesome - super easy to talk to, knew the menu inside and out, and gave great recommendations without overdoing it. Just a genuinely good vibe and made the whole experience better. Overall, great spot. The food gets you there, but the service (shoutout to Jordan) is what makes you want to come back.

Sunda Detroit Reviews
Our bartender, Chris was amazing! Very knowledgeable and spot on with his recommendations. The food and atmosphere were beyond amazing. Highly recommend!
Martell and Maya were absolutely the bomb dot com! They made our experience at Sunda New Asian unforgettable. Martell was so charismatic, personable, attentive, and genuinely fun. He is the kind of server who elevates the whole dining experience. His energy was magnetic and he made us feel so welcomed and taken care of. Maya was equally amazing. So sweet, attentive, and thoughtful. She anticipated what we needed before we even had to ask. Together they were the perfect duo and worked so seamlessly as a team. My wife and I literally did not want to share them! Service like this is rare, and honestly we can’t wait to come back just to be served by Martell and Maya again and again. They made the night! Sunda is lucky to have them. If you can request them, DO IT!
Food was out of this world. Had the spicy edamame, panda roll, crazy rice, and a ridiculous as desert. 10 outa 10. Chris served us up and did a fantastic job. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.
This spot was really REALLY good! I cannot wait to return. I had the Lobster Wagyu roll. And it was so delectable. Their Miso soup was flavorful and hearty. And Patrick (bartender) made me a REALLY great French75. Nick & Patrick were at the bar when I was there and they gave immaculate service, so ask for them. This may be my new favorite Asian fusion vibe in Detroit!
NARANJANA WAS OUR GIRL!!!!! Honestly one of the best servers I’ve ever had in general. So attentive to all of our needs, graciously helpful, proactive in sensing what was needed, could tell she genuinely cared about our feedback to better herself and she was fun to be served by. She was over the top kind and truly made our 1st experience one that will keep us coming back to Sunda Detroit! And the food was also spectacular— the wagyu crispy rice sushi was insane… went down like butter.
This place is so good. We were here Friday evening without reservation, they still made up some space for us quickly with almost no wait times. Will make sure to reserve next time. Drinks -10/10. Had their lychee Simoy.. it was sooo good. Korean chicken bao buns were so delicious. Buns super soft and light and chicken nice crispy. Had two sushi rolls, panda and red dragon with shrimp tempura. I have never finished sushi this quick ever. I’m visiting this place again. For dessert, we had their signature “ridiculous “ dessert and that was on point. Too much for 4 people to finish though.
Amazing food, ambience & service!!!!! Chris & all the other staff were very attentive & welcoming and gave us such a great experience. Will definitely be back
My family and I went there for my birthday and it was AMAZING, so we came back two weeks later. :) The space is beautifully decorated, the food was delicious, and our server Jordan was very friendly and helpful we made sure to ask for him for our 2nd visit. I have celiac so it’s always great to dine somewhere gluten-free items are marked. But Jordan also knew what could be modified and had no hesitation in confirming. Our Gf favorites: Cauliflower, crispy rice with wagyu, the great white, scallops, sea bass and ribeye (modified GF) My Family’s non-GF favorites: Lumpia, crispy pata and the Sunda Sundae (Filipino Halo Halo). They also brought me a GF Bibinka dessert (a Filipino sponge cake) for my birthday - so delicious and pretty! Definitely go and check it out - and ask for Jordan!
We had a wonderful time. The food was great, the ambiance was beautiful, and the service was amazing. We were a party of 7 and they were accommodating and very attentive. I'd definitely go back.
Everything was so delicious. Our waiter Sebastian was the best, gave us the best advice on all the food on the menu. He even convinced us to have dessert. The Ridiculous was ridiculous!
Sebastian (waiter), super fantastic. Food is gorgeous, presentation is sexy and .most importantly taste is on point and delicious. Flew into Detroit and came straight. Positive and highly recommend first experience. Atmosphere is great! And the food runner Narmen is the absolute best. 11/10 for everything. And no I wasn't given any incentive not do I know anyone here. We'll done team Sunda!!!!!
